Malta will be the guest of honour during July’s spectacular Omme-gang event in Brussels.
Probably the main summer event in Brussels, the Ommegang is a re-enactment of the entry into the Belgian capital of Emperor Charles V, the same emperor who had transferred Malta to the Knights.
Some 2,000 actors in medieval costumes will take part in the re-enactment to be held between July 5 and 7 at the Grand Place, Brussels’ historic square.
On the personal initiative of Malta’s Ambassador to Belgium, Pierre Clive Agius, this is the first time Malta will be the guest of honour in the event, which attracts major international media attention.
Through the association, a radio show from RTL, a main Belgian station, will transmit an entire show dedicated to Malta.
All marketing tools and events promoting the Ommegang will also display the emblem of Malta.
