St Martin’s College Sixth Form recently inaugurated an exhibition as part of its creative arts programme. The pieces on display were created by sixth form students and staff of Chiswick House School and St Martin’s College.
The exhibition is entitled ‘Colour Fields’ and the paintings exhibited include watercolour sketches, as well as paintings in oil, acrylics, pastels and mixed media. The subjects range from a reflection of the artists’ personal experiences to observations of everyday life.
Commenting on the event, principal Patrick Tabone said the exhibition showcased a wide range of paintings that reflected the artistic talents of the school students and the creativity of its staff that wentbeyond the work they carry out at school.
He added that the exhibition was an opportunity to appreciate the diverse aptitudes of the two schools’ communities. Students exhibiting works are following an art course at St Martin’s College Sixth Form that will lead to their Advanced or Intermediate Matsec exams.
Students have been involved in the preparations of this exhibition, including mounting the exhibits and designing the exhibition artwork. This process allowed them to gain practical experience in the organisation of such events.
