Try your hand at farming

The Resources Ministry has allocated small patches of land at Ghammieri farm where people can try their hand at organic farming.

Resources Minister George Pullicino announced the initiative today, saying its purpose was to encourage more people, especially the young, to try their hand at farming.

The scheme is called Midd Idejk fil-biedja.

50 small fields have been prepared at Ghammieri and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. They will be able to cultivate agricultural produce for personal use as well as flowers. Applicants will be supported with ongoing advice.

Applications open tomorrow at Ghammieri farm. Application forms may also be downloaded from www.mrra.gov.mt.

Further information is available on telephone number 25904130. Applications close on May 5.
