Floriana Football Club has been ordered to pay over €22,000 in transfer fees to a fooball agent representing Nigerian footballers.

Damien Iwueke filed his action against the club in 1996 on behalf of Trans Afrique Sports Agency.

He told the court that the Club owed him Lm9,644 (€22,464.48) being the balance due to him in respect of the transfer of footballer Christopher Chinedu Okoh to the Club in December 1995.

Mr Justice Joseph R Micallef heard that Mr Iwueke was a Maltese national who was originally from Nigeria.  He was an agent for Nigerian footballers in Malta.

Mr Iwueke had organized the transfer of Mr Okoh to Floriana FC in 1995 but he had not been paid the full transfer fee that had been agreed upon.  The club had terminated Mr Okoh’s contract the following year, but the court held that the agency fees were still due.

The court ordered Floriana FC to pay Mr Iwueke €22,464.48
