Through the endeavours of music teacher Michelle Abela, Grade 6 (Year 5) San Anton School students had the opportunity to experience a professional studio and also record a children’s song in Maltese.

Pinocchio is the title of an original song by Italian composer Pino Vertice as part of a European-wide project. It was originally composed in Italian but is being translated in all languages of the European Union and recorded in each country.

The song was translated into Maltese by Joseph Chircop and San Anton students were selected to represent their country and to sing and record the Maltese version.

The students, aged between nine and 10, rehearsed the song under the direction of music teacher Michelle Abela. The narrator, 10-year-old Michele Gauci, was trained by drama teacher Angele Coppini.

The song was recorded by Andrew Zammit at Tone Studios in the presence of Mr Vertice. The recording is being mastered in Brussels and once all the other countries` recordings are complete a CD of the song in the various languages will be issued.
