Valletta’s 2010/11 Premier League title celebrations in pictures...

Valletta underlined their dominance in this season’s BOV Premier League on Sunday after a hard-earned 1-0 victory over Europa League chasers Marsaxlokk crowned the Citizens champions for the 20th time in their history.

Roderick Briffa’s sweetly-struck chip seven minutes into the second half propelled Valletta into an unassailable 12-point lead at the top of the standings and stretched their unbeaten run in the league to 25 matches.

Sunday’s win helped to banish the memories of Valletta’s near-misses in the title race in the past two seasons, in the process sparking joyous scenes among their numerous fans.

The celebrations continued in the capital city on Sunday night as the supporters saluted the Valletta players in an open-bus parade.

Valletta’s title success keeps them on course to claim a treble of honours as the Citizens captured the BOV Super Cup last August and are in the semi-finals of the U*Bet FA Trophy.
