The Labour Party has congratulated the police force after officers yesterday chased and arrested two men who burgled a house at Palm Street, Paola,
The two men stole jewellery from the house of two elderly women. When the police went to the scene, a car was seen speeding off. A case followed and arrests were made in Aviation Avenue, Luqa.
Michael Falzon, the PL's spokesman on home affairs, such such incidents raised the people's respect and confidence in the police force.
He said it was essential that more policemen were seen on the beat.
The police force, he said, also needed to get its priorities right.
It would have made more sense, Dr Falzon said, had the police force shown the same zeal to find policemen to distribute the referendum voting documents as was shown for policemen to be deployed for less important matters.
