Cash stolen in post office hold-up
Cash not exceeding €3,000 was stolen this morning from a Maltapost office in St Paul's Bay.
The police said that an armed and hooded man entered the post office branch in Sqaq tax-Xema, St Paul's Bay, and demanded cash.
He then escaped with the cash. No one was injured.
There were no clients in the office at the time.
Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera is holding an inquiry.

I remember remarking to the maltapost employee there that the way the office is designed is simply an invitation to carry out a holdup.
Design of such an office, its location and security systems are a major factor in reducing possibilities of falling victim to such a crime.
Also, since of recent Maltapost offices seem to be moving on the way to become Bank offices, they should start thinking of beefing up entry/exits and making sure that it is clear that security is a top priority both for employees and customers.
