Two suspected burglars followed and arrested

The police arrested two suspected burglars after following their car from Paola to Luqa yesterday morning.

The arrests were made in connection with the burglary of a Paola residence, the police said.

The thieves allegedly broke into a house in Palm Street and stole jewellery from two elderly women, aged 86 and 78, who were not at home at the time.

When the police went to the scene of the crime, a suspicious car sped off. They followed it and arrested the two men, aged 31 and 34, in Aviation Avenue, Luqa.

An inquiry is being held.
