Whatever next from Revel Barker (Bridging The Gap To Gozo, April 13)? Does he realise he is not the only resident in our sister island? Is he aware that the majority of his fellow residents work during the day and a good number of them have to commute on a daily basis to Malta to do so? Is he mindful of the fact that a number of Gozitan students attend University in Malta?
Is Mr Barker au courant of the fact that the Gozitan economy is in dire need of better access? Surely not... in line with his usual fashion of denigrating anything related to our islands one wouldn’t have expected anything better.
The proposed investment in any infrastructure should be aimed at lessening the obstacles suffered by the daily commuters and should address adequately the needs of the Gozitan community. There is common accord among the Gozitan business community that the tunnel would target such needs.
Political parties seem to be in agreement also on this alternative means of access provided a proper feasibility study is carried out. The ultimate aim is to responsibly bridge the gap to Gozo and not to bridge the gap to Mr Barker’s needs...
