Borussia Dortmund are on the verge of their first league title since 2002 after beating Freiburg 3-0 yesterday to open an eight-point lead over Bayer Leverkusen, who lost 5-1 at Bayern Munich.
With four games to go, Dortmund are in pole position to win the title and have secured an automatic Champions League place.
Having already heard title rivals Leverkusen had been mauled in Munich, Dortmund attacked Freiburg from the start.
Mario Goetze, 18, opened the scoring on 23 minutes and lone striker Robert Lewandowski added a second on 43 minutes before midfielder Kevin Grosskreutz made sure the hosts secured three points as he tapped home on 78 minutes.
Earlier, Bayern Munich tore up Leverkusen’s title credentials as Germany striker Mario Gomez bagged a first-half hat-trick with the other goals coming from an own goal by Simon Rolfes and a gem from Franck Ribery.
