Autism Awareness Month

The Speech-Language Department will be joining other countries in creating an awareness campaign to mark April, which is World Autism Awareness Month.

A film event is being held at the University Gozo campus tomorrow during which an autism-related film will be screened, and there will be an exhibition of paintings and drawings by children with Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASDs). On Thursday, the department will be hosting a day of workshop sessions related to ASDs at the National Curriculum Centre in Ħamrun. Topics will include visual aids, social communication skills, augmentative and alternative communication, challenging behaviours, hyperlexia, social stories and sensory processing.
