Thy will be done! The spirituality of a Catholic Monarch by DennisMifsud on Emperor Karl I of Austria was published recently.

The book bears the blessing of Cardinal Christoph Schonborn of Vienna and a foreword of Gozo Bishop Mario Grech. It is both a historical and spiritual biography of the last Hapsburg monarch.

It gives a full historical account of the life of Karl: as a father, a husband and a Catholic monarch. The author scrutinises all this in the light of faith. Karl’s motto was: “Thy will be done!”

His life and all political endeavours were directed towards God’s will and to bring peace not only to his peoples, but also to all Europeans during World War I.

In fact, he is regarded as the founder of the EU, although itwas after his death that his ideals and wishes for a united Europe materialised.

Emperor Karl’s connection with Malta is twofold. First, he was Bailiff Grand Cross of Honour and Devotion of the Order of Malta. Secondly, his enemies wished to exile him to the island.

The book is being sold for €8 from all leading bookstores or directly from the author on 2155 2265 or 7992 3107.
