Exiles Jet Services are facing the prospect of finishing outside the top four of the BOV Winter League standings as the tournament reaches its halfway stage today with the remaining two matches from the opening round-robin phase.

Joe Caruana Dingli’s team are currently languishing in fifth place in the standings and their task to force their way into the top four looks anything but easy.

Exiles play holders Sliema McDonald’s who are sure of their place in the last four but still eager to avoid defeat and slip one position into fourth which means an eventual tough pairing with the top seeds in the semi-finals.

Like Neptunes Emirates, San Ġiljan have already completed their programme of matches but they will be interested onlookers at Tal-Qroqq today, knowing a defeat for Sliema would also rule the Saints out of contention.

San Giljan are currently in fourth place on six points, two ahead of Exiles who have a match in hand.

Before the break for the ASA U-17 team to play the Euro qualifiers in Ukraine, Sliema beat San Ġiljan 16-10 but Exiles came a cropper against Sirens Ritter Sport who got back to winning ways in impressive style with a 12-6 victory.

In the second match in pro-gramme today, Sirens are favourites to register their fourth win and go top when playing bottom-placed Marsascala Solid Base.

The southseasiders failed to pick a point so far and will figure in a play-off for fifth place in the classification matches.
