The first pistol and revolver shooting competition of the season, from the Malta Rifle and Pistol Shooting Club calendar, was held recently at the Victoria Ranges, Tal-Ħandaq.

Sixteen shooters competed in the two events in programme – the ISSF 0.22 Rimfire and 0.38 Centrefire categories.

In perfect weather conditions, all shooters had a very enjoyable time with very good scores registered in both competitions.

Anthony Mifsud took the first event by storm and with some accurate shooting, he registered the best score of the day to win the 0.22 Rimfire by a score of 340 points. He was followed closely by Charles Wallbank who shot a 332 with his new Walther GSP pistol.

Michael Sammut was third on 308 points.

In the Centrefire category, the top two in the 0.22 Rimfire shoot changed placings in that Wallbank this time had the better of Mifsud after hitting an excellent 348 score to Mifsud’s 334. Michael Risiott was a close third with a score of 333 points.

The competitions were judged by ISSF referee Gino Galea and Patrick Azzopardi.

At the end of the shoots, trophies were distributed to the first three winners in each category.
