Shoppers in Valletta look on as 11-year old Glenn Aloisio performs CPR on a paediatric three-year old mannequin during HealthFest, an awareness campaign organised by the Malta Medical Students’ Association in Great Siege Square yesterday afternoon.

Held for the third consecutive year, the students distributed information on sexual health, eating disorders and smoking hazards, among others. Passers-by could also get their capillary blood glucose, blood pressure and body mass index checked. Around 500 people visited this outreach stand where students were also collecting money for SOS Malta and Angie Bajada, a traffic accident victim.

The event was held in collaboration with the Malta Red Cross Society, which provided basic first aid information to the public. Those interested in first aid courses, or in volunteering with Red Cross may call Kimberly Schembri on 2722 1022, 7722 1023 or e-mail courses@redcross.org.mt.
