A 17-year-old yesterday pleaded not guilty to raping his twin cousins when they were just seven years old and he was 13.

The case, which is being heard behind closed doors, saw the teenager deny raping the two girls in the summer of 2007 and in the previous two years.

The charges included holding them against their will, defiling them and participating in sexual activities with them. Police Inspector Raymond Aquilina prosecuted.

Lawyers José Herrera and Veronique Dalli appeared for the teenager.
