Two octogenarian brothers were injured when they were surprised by two robbers at their home in St Roque Street, Birkirkara in broad daylight yesterday.
The two robbers, one of whom was hooded while the other was barefaced, made their way into the home of the brothers, aged 86 and 89, by forcing open the front door of the residence.
The incident occurred at around 3 p.m.
The brothers were forced to hand over their money and were slightly injured in the process. The thieves then made their getaway in a car. The police said that some cash was stolen but the amount has not yet been disclosed.
Magistrate Audrey Demicoli appointed a team of court experts to help in an inquiry.
The police are conducting investigations.
