Three arrests after spate of robberies in Qormi

The police said today that it had received a further three reports of persons being robbed after withdrawing money from ATMs.

However after intensive investigations, three men are being held under arrest and are expected to be taken to court.

The police reported yesterday how a man who had just withdrawn money from an ATM in Vjal il-Helsien, Ta' Farsina, Qormi, was robbed by a man brandishing a knife.

The police said they had since received a further three reports of robberies at Ta' Farsina and Triq San Bartolomew in Qormi and two men were held for questioning.

Another man was arrested following prompt police action after another robbery in Windmill Street, Qormi, where there is another ATM.

The men are expected to be arraigned in the coming days.
