Maltco Lotteries has paid €120 million in taxes to the government in the seven years since its setting up, and €6 million were transferred to the Good Causes Fund from unclaimed prizes, John Katakis, Maltco's CEO told the company's agents.

Dr Katakis said that many people thought that the project did not have any prospects and indeed, many companies which were initially interested in running the National Lottery dropped out at the early stages. But Maltco was a success story for the past seven yeas and had invested €22 million in Malta.

Mario Cassar, Maltco general director, said that in spite of the complexity in managing its daily operations, Maltco had been able to deliver a high level standard of service in its operations and intends to continue to expand its portfolio of games.
