On March 25 at 10.50 a.m., I posted a large white A4 envelope in the letter box at Ġuże Pace Street, Ħamrun, corner with Villambrosa Street. This was not registered but had a sender’s address written on it.

It was correctly addressed to an insurance company in Ta’ Xbiex. It contained very important, original, hospital care documents from overseas.

Up to March 30, at 3 p.m., this was not delivered.

I personally called at customer care to report this on a Monday. The lady took note on a piece of scrap paper and said that she would try to find out. I called Maltapost customer care again by phone on March 30 but the gentleman who replied said that he coul not do anything about it because the envelope was not registered, adding that he was sorry, but he could not help me out.

I find it hard to believe that customer care could not even be bothered to find out what might have happened to this letter.

I was expecting that customer care would take up this case seriously and assure me that an internal enquiry would be made to find out what happened to this envelope.

Do we have to register all letters to ensure delivery?
