Schola Cantorum Jubilate recently launched a CD with live recordings of a concert held during lent last year.
This was one of the concerts organised on the occasion of the choir’s 10th anniversary.
The concert was held at the Fontana parish church and consisted of sacred pieces and meditations read by Manuel Cauchi.
The CD includes sacred polyphonic motets sung à cappella and from renowned composers like: Palestrina, Kodály, Bartolucci, Debono and Portelli.
It also includes interpretations by soloist and director Marouska Attard and Anita Vella Bondin.
The meditations, included in the CD, were written by Fr José Miguel Ibáñez Langlois in ‘Libro de la Pasión’ (1986). This epic narrates the main episodes in the last days of Jesus before the crucifixion. It was translated in various languages. The Maltese translation was done by Fr Joseph Bajada.
Hora Gloriæ is the third CD launched by this youth choir. The first one, In a Manger was launched in 2003 (no longer available) followed by Jubilate (2005).
Hora Gloriæ is available from music shops, shops which sell religious articles and from Schola Cantorum Jubilate. E-mail info@scjchoir.com or call 7905 5207 for more information.
