HSBC employees go green

HSBC ‘climate champions’ recently attended a lecture at the Argotti Botanical Gardens in Floriana.

The lecture was given by Argotti director Joseph Buhagiar, a lecturer in the University’s Department of Biology.

He explained how carbon sequestration by plants is one way of reducing the effects of climate change, which occurs due to greenhouse gas emissions.

The process refers to the ability of plants to absorb carbon and incorporate it into a form that remains an integral part of a plant or tree.

This event was part of HSBC’s campaign to raise awareness about combating climate change.

HSBC climate champions are trained employee volunteers who, through a series of planned and coordinated activities throughout the year, contribute to HSBC Malta’s Climate Change Programme as part of an ongoing commitment to the environment in Malta.
