A Maltese woman who had been reported missing after being granted bail during procedures charging her with importing 5,000 ecstasy pills has been found in London as was yesterday extradited to Malta, the police said.

Rita Bugeja, 51, had gone missing on November 19, 2007, just days before her jury was due to start.

The Criminal Court had subsequently ordered her arrest and a European Arrest Warrant was issued. She was found and arrested in the UK in 2008 but again disappeared.

The woman is currently being held at the Corradino Correctional Facility.
