Ailing actress Zsa Zsa Gabor, who has suffered a series of health problems in recent months, was rushed back to hospital on Tuesday after she began coughing up blood, her husband said.

The 94-year-old Hungarian-born actress, whose right leg had to be amputated earlier this year, was being cared for by doctors at the Ronald Reagan medical centre in Los Angeles, her husband Frederic von Anhalt said.

“She is in the emergency room right now, she had a hard time breathing, and she was coughing some blood out,” he explained.

“Her blood pressure is very high, her lungs have to be cleared, because there’s some blood coming up so it’s a big problem. But they take care of her.”

Ms Gabor, a platinum blonde actress known for her flamboyant lifestyle, legal troubles and nine marriages, was briefly hospitalised last week overcome with emotion following the death of screen goddess Elizabeth Taylor.

Her spokesman John Blanchett said Gabor was “inconsolable” following Taylor’s death, fearing “I’m next.”

Ms Gabor, who is well known for calling everyone “dahling” in her heavily-accented English, knew Taylor well, and lived only a few blocks away from her in the swanky Bel Air neighbourhood.
