Producer prices in February went up by almost four per cent when compared to the same period last year, according to figures released by the National Statistics Office.

During this period, energy and consumer goods went up by 0.2 per cent and four per cent respectively while the capital goods sector saw a decline of 0.3 per cent.

Producer prices in the domestic market saw a marginal increase. Prices of goods sold between Maltese companies moved up by 0.8 per cent.

Energy and consumer goods rose by 0.2 per cent and 0.5 per cent respectively, whereas capital goods fell by 10.2 per cent.

In the year under review producer prices for goods destined for the non-domestic market advanced by 5.6 per cent on account of price increases in the euro and non-euro area.

The producer price index for industry in February alone went up by 0.4 per cent. Producer prices in the domestic market edged slightly up while prices for the non-domestic market rose by 0.5 per cent.
