I wonder what the answer would be if one were to ask passers-by in the area of Balluta Square what is the worst eyesore and what constitutes the worst obstacle.

Is it the few tables, certainly taking up too much space on public paved areas but which could be reduced without being eliminated; or the chain of smelly garbage bins in front of or to one side of one or two of theeateries in the area?

The local council is doing splendid work embellishing a dead-end public staircase nearby. Hopefully it will do something on similar lines across the bay to one side of Balluta Mansions, where a bus stop once had stood for ages, eliminated by the very same council not overly sensitive to Balluta residents’ needs. Perhaps in the process it could also erect a cane screen or similar structure to lessen the eyesore of skips on the Balluta valley side. Perhaps the residents’ association of the area might deem it appropriate to pen something after a season’s slumber?
