About 200 patients a week receive acupuncture and other Chinese traditional treatments at three clinics offering such therapies, according to the Health Minister.

Joseph Cassar said the treatment provided at Mater Dei Hospital and Gozo General Hospital was free, although a “reasonable fee” was charged at the Mediterranean Regional Centre for Traditional Chinese Medicine at Corradino. Over the last three years, the Chinese government donated €85,000 worth of medical instruments, medicine, needles and other supplies to the centre.
