The horse racing fraternity is mourning the death of former driver Charles Clifton.

Affectionately known as ‘Il-Ħaw’, for many years Clifton was one of the leading drivers in Malta.

During his career, Clifton has won several honours and will be mostly remembered for driving Lionel and Nemo des Bruyers. His biggest success came in 1993 when he led Sanit to victory in the President’s Cup final.

The Malta Racing Club yesterday said that a minute’s silence will be observed during today’s meeting.
