Libel case has been settled

With reference to an article published on the front page of The Sunday Times, dated February 24, 2008, journalist Ivan Camilleri has declared that comments in the piece were based on an interview he carried out with Nationalist MP David Agius.

Mr Camilleri clarified that although he had contacted Jo Said by telephone late on the eve of the publication, he was not given the opportunity to verify the comments as Mr Said did not wish to comment.

Mr Camilleri further declared that he never intended to cause harm to Mr Said and regrets any inconvenience he might have caused him. Mr Said has thus withdrawn his libel case against Mr Camillleri and The Sunday Times.
