Wooden pallets catch fire at Żabbar garage

Wooden pallets stacked outside and on the roof of a Żabbar garage caught fire yesterday afternoon, producing a plume of smoke that could be seen from kilometres away. In the panic, the owners accidentally spilt a can of oil outside the garage, which caused the fire to spread. Civil Protection Department personnel threw sand on the oil and managed to control the flame.

The cause of the fire has not been established yet.
