The governments of Ireland and Vietnam have sent messages recognising Malta’s role in the evacuation operation undertaken from Libya through Malta in the past weeks.

In letters addressed to Foreign Minister Tonio Borg, Vietnamese and Irish foreign ministers Pham Gia Khiem and Eamon Gilmore, respectively, highlighted the “prompt, flexible and thoughtful” manner with which the Maltese government authorities facilitated the evacuation and repatriation of their citizens.
