Iva try to do that here in Malta Mr.'no big deal'. We would take 6 years!
A good example of professionalism by these great people and after what they have suffered.

U bit-teknologija kollha taghhom, ma kienux kapaci jahsbu f'sistema li f'kaz ta' tsunami (kif gara) ikun hemm xi tip ta' surrounding wall madwar ir-rejatturi nuklejari biex jevitaw id-dizastru li kkawza. Tsunami hemmhekk hija xi haga possibli hafna ta, allura kif hallew kollox espost? Kont nistenna xi haga ahjar mill- "V-Tec" people !!

Li gara mhux bi tsunami imma b'terremot ta 9.0 fuq l-iskala richter. Li kieku terremot bhal dak laqghat Malta, ma kien jibqa' xejn shih.

We need an eternity to build a road and few minutes after there comes the WSC and/or GO people destroying some part of it for the sake of cable and water things. The maltese taxpayer enjoys smooth roads only for few days than it's hell again.

And this patching thing is another misery to take us for a ride. Actually some roads are better with the holes than with patching. Ridiculous work by some lazy workers.

..... the inevitable ‘blame GonziPN for everything’ comment.

Lawrence Gonzi or Joseph Muscat have nothing to do with it – it’s our culture.

In Malta, we would probably never manage in 6 days, but we could drastically improve on quality and time if we had to hire international professional road builders. But.... are we, the electorate, politically ready to give these jobs to overseas companies? I doubt it.

@ E Gatt

The government takes credit when a new road gets "fixed", when we get protocols, etc etc .... and now you want to blame our "Maltese culture" for the shameful approach the work on our roads gets done?

Whether PN or MLP, the government is always responsible for the way work on Malta's infrastructure gets conducted and every tax payer like Mr Micallef has the right to demand for more to be done!

No we cannot accept this!
The Gozo Channel Tunnel will in fact beat the Japanese because they took 6 days while the Tunnel will take Zero minutes to be finished because it will NOT START AT ALL!

Well said I cannot but agree with you more. Its our culture that lets us down and an attitude of selfishness that must be inbreed to some degree. You see it everyday with people keeping the own homes spotless, but outside is another matter.

In Kyoto you see 6 year old kids using their surreal underground system, going to school unaccompanied. That's how safe Japan is. Not to mention how courteous they are.

It takes months to get over the depression when you get back in this %^&^ hole.

Pretty sure, I'll get replies like " You should go back, bla bla".

Couldn't have summed it up better but i would add 1) 2 years for MEPA permit 2) Two years to issue tender of works 3) 2 years to award the tender based on the number of objections
