Garage fire destroys three cars in Lija

Three cars were destroyed and a van was damaged in a fierce garage fire in Lija last night. The blaze, in the semi-basement garage in Main Street, was reported at around 10.30 p.m. and fire engines from Floriana, Corradino and Hal Far fire stations...

Three cars were destroyed and a van was damaged in a fierce garage fire in Lija last night.

The blaze, in the semi-basement garage in Main Street, was reported at around 10.30 p.m. and fire engines from Floriana, Corradino and Hal Far fire stations were still on the scene at 12.30 a.m.

The blaze destroyed a Seat Ibiza, a Toyota and an old Ford Escort, while a Peugeot van was damaged.

No one was injured.

Senior station officeer James Newell led the operation.
