Fr Joseph M. Farrugia has been appointed the new parish priest of Safi by Archbishop Paul Cremona

Fr Farrugia was born in Zabbar in 1942 and was ordained priest in 1969.

He started his pastoral work as assistant parish priest in Zabbar. In 1973 he was appointed parish priest of Mqabba and three years later he was appointed parish priest of Kalkara.

In 1990 Fr Farrugia was appointed parish priest of Birzebbuga where he served till 1999.

That year he was nominated Canon archpriest of St. Paul's Church, Rabat.

In 2003 he was nominated parish priest of St. Gregory, Sliema where he served for the last eight years.

He has also been spiritual director of several religious and family groups.
