Allow me to express my utter disappointment when I arrived a few minutes late last Sunday for the start of a theatrical performance at St James Cavalier in Valletta.
The duty staff that evening only admitted me to the theatre at the start of the second act at 9.15 p.m., after the intermission, quoting the existing terms and conditions (the performance had started at 8 p.m. and finished at 10 p.m.).
Abroad latecomers are usually seated in a pre-designated section at the rear of the theatre when this occurs so as not to disturb the performers on stage or the audience. If there is no intermission latecomers are also kept seated in this place.
It is most unfair to penalise patrons in the contemptuous manner as I experienced, especially when one has paid €30 for two seats. I trust that such an arrangement as I am proposing is adopted and carried out consistently and without exception and not on an ad hoc basis.
