Avengers milestone celebrated

Chat host Paul O’Grady steps in for Steed as he teams up with Honor Blackman ahead of a milestone celebration for the TV hit The Avengers.

The cult series – in which Ms Blackman starred as Cathy Gale – reaches its half century this year with a weekend-long event this summer.

It will feature the largest cast and crew reunion for four decades, according to organisers, when it takes place on June 25 and 26.

The University of Chichester will host the celebration with Avengers fan O’Grady acting as a guest host for one of the discussions with key figures from the show.

The ITV1 presenter donned a smart suit and brolly – in the style of Avengers hero John Steed (Patrick Macnee) – as he posed with Ms Blackman on the steps of the Langham Hotel in London, to recreate a famous cast photo.
