Obituary
APAP. On March 16, at Mater Dei Hospital, JULIE, née Landon, of Msida, aged 62, passed away suddenly and peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her great loss her husband Carmel, her son Christopher, her daughter Sharon and Kevin, her father Kenneth Landon, her brother David and his wife Julia, her grandchildren Adam, Jade, Aaliyah, Khayr, Rayhan and Saarah, her sisters-in-law Marthese Cuschieri, Mona and her husband Peter, Anna and Salvu, Marita and her husband Pierre, Mariella, her brothers-in-law in Australia, Joe and his wife Frances, Eddie and Carmen, all her nephews, nieces and her friends, and fellow artists. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 9 a.m. for St Gregory parish church, Sliema, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 9.30 a.m., followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to The Malta Hospice Movement, Balzan, and Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.
CHAPELLE. On March 17, FRANCIS ANTHONY, Baron of San Giovanni, of St Julians, aged 77, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Anne, née Portanier, his beloved daughter Francesca, his in-laws, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Charles, her children Christine, Jean Pierre and Debby and their spouses, her grandchildren Kurt, Aidan, Keane and Daniel, her brother and sisters, in-laws, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 2.30 p.m. for Our Lady of Grace Sanctuary, Żabbar, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 3 p.m., followed by interment in the family grave at Żabbar cemetery. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Charles and his wife Monica, Mary Rose and her husband Joe Carter, Hugo and his wife Josephine and Helen, her grandchildren Patrick and Marisa, Stephen and Claire, Ruth and Noel, Michelle and Renzo, Adrian and Ruth, and Simon and Joanna, her great-grandchildren Andrew, Pierre, David, Nicole, Scott and Michaela, her sisters, in-laws, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Żejtun Home for the Elderly today at 2 p.m. for St Dominic (Lunzjata) church, Vittoriosa, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Bach choral work
The spirit of Lent will be captured in a concert of Johann Sebastian Bach’s St Matthew Passion, known to be one of the greatest sacred choral works ever composed.
St Monica Choir and the Brandenburg Young Philharmonic Orchestra, Berlin, will bring Bach’s work to life at St Paul’s Metropolitan Cathedral, Mdina on April 8 at 7.30 p.m.
The event will include the participation of members of the Cologne Cathedral Chamber Choir and seven Maltese and German vocal soloists, all under the baton of international conductor Hans-Jürgen Nagel.
It will be held under the patronage of Archbishop Tommaso Caputo, Apostolic Nuncio in Malta.
Entrance to the concert is free. A collection will be made in aid of Puttinu Cares Foundation that works with children with cancer.
