Barbed wire treatment at Libyan Embassy
Video: Mark Zammit Cordina
The Libyan Embassy in Balzan has been fenced in barbed wire and the gate has been sealed with a chain and a lock, as can be seen in the video above.
Daily protests by Libyan in Malta have been held in front of the embassy since the fighting against the Libyan regime started in Libya.

What a mess the last remnants of Gaddafi's crumbling regime have left behind!
Are these their tastes?
Or is this photo of an Embassy behind an unesthetic wreath of barbed wire a reminder of what lay in store for Libya's free civilian and unarmed population which rose against a despotic bloodthirsty regime had Gaddafi his way?
A monumental shame that the great majority of the Maltese who stood up to be counted will recall for days and years to come!
Those few quislings in Malta who put money before dignity and human rights and condoned the slaughter of countless innocent civilians and peaceful protesters in Libya must today have second thoughts!

Jekk dik l-ambaxxata ma tinghalaqx...vera pajjiz tal-Mickey Mouse. Lanqas li ha nibghatulhom xi 4 guided missiles. Tal-bierah fl-inhawi tar-Rabat kienu biss murtali tal-festa u mhux provi ta attakk bil-missili.
I shall advice the libyan embassy that in the 2nd Sunday of June there will be a huge firworks infront of the embassy, just down the valley. No need to go in the shelters

I could not access the video-clip yesterday but I did this morning. The barbed-wire - very barbed, with razor-sharp attachments ever few inches, like Christmas lights. Is this meant to keep some out or to keep THEM in? As likely as not, same difference. I also note what a sumptuous building the embassy is - obviously, money talks even in terra nemica. Well, not quite nemica. You see, money talks and as we say, Malta qatt ma rrifjutat qamh. From MY vantage point, the embassy is a 'bejta tas-sriep'.
For a translation, please ask a free-thinking local - I guess they exist.

Skuzi ta, imma jekk l-ambaxxata hija propjeta privata, il-bankina u l-arja ta' fuqha m'humiex. Lets apply some common sense before we apply the law. U din il-biza kollha ghalfejn? Jien f dari m ghandix barbed wire. Ghaliex qed jibza daqshekk l ambaxxatur? U bilhaqq, baqaghlu minn fejn jidhol ghax-xoghol, jew dan ifisser li l-ambaxxata maghluqa?

The people protected inside the FORMER LIBYAN EMBASSY are representatives of an illegitimate government. Should we not be sending them back to their country and let them be dealt with according to law?? Since the Ghaddafi Regime is no longer recognised internationally, should Malta not follow suit?? To add insult to injury, measures taken to protect an illegitimate "diplomatic corp", cause danger and health hazard to the Maltese people!

For giving our full and unlimited support during the last war do you know what we Maltese received: refusal of the marshall aid and today we are being rewarded with an open air theatre in place of an architectural jewel. That's what we will get by involving ourselves in other people's conflict: u bilhaqq ghax insejt xi xebgha immigranti jigu hawn johdulna il- ftitspazju li baqa u jixorbulna it- taxxi taghna. u wara jigu jghidulna li- il protesti ghadda zmienhom. Halluna.

X'passi qed jiehu l-Kunsill Lokali biex jiprotegi id-dritt tal-'pedestrian' bhala liberta tal-moviment? Kif jider dak ir-rasor wire huwa perikolus ferm u sa fejn naf jiena kull Ambaxxata hija 'art diplomatika' mill-gate il-gewwa u mhux bil-kontra...

If MEPA does not bring the barbed wire tomorrow it means that it is a free for all to install barbed wire on your premises without any permit! Let's see if this country has rules that are for some not others.

@ Dr Melvyn Mifsud LL.D -- You cannot re-write history my friend.........you intentionally opted to exclude the father of all fathers, the one who achieved most for our nation and us citizens.
The one and only Dom Mintoff .....Republic of Malta, Freedom Day (helsien bil-provi mhux bicca karta Dr Mifsud!!!), all social services (which have since faced dismantlement by your beloved PN!!), the right for a minimum wage, the right for vote to all women and all the big industries ST (the then SGS), Air Malta (your party's ghasafar tac-comb!!), Sea Malta, etc. etc. etc.
You history teacher was a very bad one Dr Mifsud LL.D!!!! By the way you forgot to tell bloggers that you are a PN candidate! So what can one expect!!!

Eh, skuzi Sur Zammit, ghalli jista jkun, int kont tghix Malta meta ma stajtx issemmi l-isem tal kap tal-oppozizzjoni fuq il-mezzi tax-xandir ta' l-istat? Meta l-oppozizzjoni ma setghetx issemma lehinha, l-anqas mill-kazini taha? Meta l-gazzetti ta' l-oppozizzjoni kont taqrahom ghar-riskju tieghek? Insomma, biex ma nibqax sejjer, meta Mintoff kien kwazi sar Gaddafi iehor? Tixtiequ tibdluha l-istorja, u iva tidhqu b'xi ftit zghar, imma l-pis kbir li hallielkom Mintoff ga cahhadkom mill-poter ghal 24 sena. Min jaf ghal kemm iktar?

Good one! :)
Both political parties have their deficiencies, but both were paramount to securing the beloved Malta we have today, which can become even much better with serious hard work from all interested parties with the leadership of the political class. History cannot be rewritten by excluding all the great things introduced by past Labour governments, some of which you very well recalled. Among which one of the most important of all, The Republic of Malta, lead by the Maltese.

My history teaches me so much. Independence ... was the realisation of a Movement's dream. Initiated in circa 1881.
When so many fought for it - so many unsong battles.
1941 - Internship ... in Parliamentary debates by Ugo Mifsud and George Borg Olivier. Integration .. referendum. The stepping stone to independence.
I will never forget one saying... re Missier Malta Indipendenti.
Fadjnih b'kolonja u tana NAZZJON. Before the 1962election. This regarding our nation's father. Gorg Borg Olivier.
Becoming a full member of the United Nations.
Eddie Fenech Adami - leading Malta into EU - despite the present and former Leaders of the Opposition be contrary.
Being independent and an EU member, our presnt PM has really made us proud.
The PN leaders may have have not been always spot on on regarding relatively minor issuies ( some may think) but not so regarding national policies.
Premier Lawrence Gonzi should be confirmed as the leader to lead us in the coming years.

How, Dr Mifsud? With Gonzi refusing to allow Malta to be used as a base for UNSC backed military operations even though the Consitution expressly allows it? Some love of freedom this Gonzi has. Tassew Ipokriti Kristjani, I mean Demo Kristjani.
