Millions of people across the world will today unite in celebration of St Patrick’s Day, this year being labelled “the friendliest day of the year”.

More than 60 million people around the globe claim Irish ancestry, including the 4.1 million citizens of Ireland. Everyone, whether Irish or not, will be encouraged to “become Irish for the day” in honour of this cultural and traditional day.

Guinness will, of course, feature prominently in the celebrations.

“St Patrick’s Day and Guinness are symbolic of not only Irish culture but of celebrating life,” Fergal Murray, Guinness master brewer said.

Various pubs all over Malta will also be joining in the celebrations, handing out special branded gifts to Guinness drinkers.

St Patrick’s Day celebrations take different shape around the world, from festive parades in the US, Munich and Tokyo to the flocking of “honorary Irishmen” in Russia and France to their local Irish pub.

More than 10 million pints of Guinness are raised around the world in celebrations large and small every day around the globe and even more so St Patrick’s Day.
