Eleven leading organisations in Malta will be joining forces in providing financial support and a day of voluntary work by their employees to help charitable causes on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Day, celebrated annually on March 19.

This is the 10th CSR Day celebrated in Malta. This year’s participating companies include Alf Mizzi and Sons, Deloitte, Enemalta, Gasan Group of Companies, HSBC Bank Malta, MSV Life Insurance, Malta Enterprise, Simonds Farsons Cisk, Tumas Group, Vassallo Group of Companies and Watson Arrow Pharm.

These companies will be working with organisations which provide support to children and adults facing difficult social situations. They will also be supported by members of Junior Chamber International (Malta) and the Maltese Association of The Sovereign Military and Hospitaller Order of Malta.

This year, volunteers from Alf Mizzi and Sons will be working at Dar Sagra Familja in Zabbar while Deloitte employees will once again be working at the Dar Qalb ta’ Ġesù in Sta Venera.

These homes offer shelter to victims of domestic abuse. Employees of Gasan Group of Companies will be helping out at the Dar Ġesu Nazzarenu in Zejtun.

HSBC Bank Malta and Enemalta will be working at Fejda and St Jeanne Antide Home in Santa Venera. These girls’ residential homes cater for children under a care order, court order or in voluntary care.

MSV Life will be helping out at the Caritas Rehabilitation Shelter at San Blas and Malta Enterprise will be lending a hand at Dar Merhba Bik – a home for abused wives and their children. Simonds Farsons Cisk employees will volunteer their day’s work at the Aġenzija Sapport in Ħal Far, while Tumas Group staff members will carry out works at Mater Graziae Home in Marsascala.

Employees from Vassallo Group of Companies will be working at St Joseph’s Home in Santa Venera. Both homes offer shelter to children in need. Watson Arrow Pharm will be working at the St Therese home for children in Zurrieq.

“This year, the CSR Day organising committee managed to encourage 11 companies to participate. As responsible corporates, we feel it is our duty to support those members of society who are particularly vulnerable, like children and adults facing social problems,” said HSBC’s Doriette Camilleri, on behalf of the CSR Day organising committee, which is made up of a representative from each of the participating companies.
