A 33-year-old woman has been jailed for 20 years in the US after being convicted of performing sex acts on a two-year-old child while a man in England watched live via a webcam.

Julie Carr of Bangor, Maine, pleaded guilty in February last year after admitting in federal court she sent four videos to the man.

She was sentenced yesterday in federal court in Bangor.

US District Judge John Woodcock said the sentence was meant to protect people who cannot protect themselves.

Police in the West Midlands discovered the videos, which were recorded, in June 2009 while investigating another child pornography case.

The videos were traced to Maine, and Carr was arrested two days later.
