A group of people braved the rainy and the cold weather yesterday to raise awareness about chronic kidney failure, the silent pandemic affecting 600 million people worldwide. The proportion of people on dialysis in Malta is among the highest in Europe.

A group of people braved the rainy and the cold weather yesterday to raise awareness about chronic kidney failure, the silent pandemic affecting 600 million people worldwide. The proportion of people on dialysis in Malta is among the highest in Europe. The fun-walk, themed Protect Your Kidneys, Save Your Heart, was held to mark World Kidney Day and was organised by Vivian Corporation. It started from the Independence monument in Floriana and ended at The Ferries in Sliema. Donations were in aid of the renal unit at Mater Dei Hospital.
