A 42-year-old woman was yesterday charged with defrauding an 80-year-old woman of over €2,000 two years ago.

Magistrate Antonio Mizzi heard Loraine Silvia Alkounsul, of Msida, plead not guilty to fraud and forging documents between April 27 and May 28, 2009.

Ms Alkounsul was also charged with breaching police bail conditions when she failed to turn up at the Valletta police station as requested.

She was denied bail and remanded in police custody.

Police Inspector James Grech prosecuted.
