Catch the flight to Glasgow and you shall miss the bus
Since the introduction of Ryanair flights to and from Malta, I have used their services over 20 times and I have no complaints about the cheap and efficient services offered by the airline.
It is positive to note that Ryanair decided to introduce flights from (Glasgow) Prestwick Airport to and from Malta on Thursdays and Sundays as from next month.
However, despite the fact that this new service was introduced, public transport to/from Prestwick airport remains a problem. On Thursday, the flight arrives at Prestwick at midnight, whereas on Sunday the flight arrives at 11.50 p.m. Prestwick Airport have advised that the last city centre bus times will be staying the same and will be departing Prestwick to go to Glasgow at 12.15 a.m.
How can one expect to be able to use this bus service if one has to pass through passport control and collect luggage? It comes as no surprise that there has been a significant drop in the number of passengers using Prestwick Airport!

Why do you even feel the need to write to the newspaper in MALTA about a problem in Glasgow with their public transport??
Here we have lots of problems getting to the ferry in Gozo (unless we pay thru the nose for a taxi), and getting to the airport on public transport from Gozo is nigh on impossible unless you want to be there all night for the morning flight. BUT I would not be writing to Gatwick (London) newspapers about the problem - - I notify the transport bods here. (to no avail, but at least its the right persons to tell)

Cryanair do not operate to major airports (apart from Malta where we have only one). That's why they are cheaper, but you get cheaper service. As a matter of fact, last during the weekend it was if I remember correctly because I've been jumping from one station to another on the internet on the BBC, cryanair owner said that it cannot go on offering cheap flights and is going to increase its fares.

Right you are. This has been long coming.

Has TOM taken-over the Glasgow Herald (or whatever it's called) ?
In answer to your questions, Mr Cordina :-
1. - Only take hand luggage and run to the bus stop with a hopeful spring in your step.
2. - Get a friend to take the last bus out of Glasgow and delay its return from Prestwick until you are comfortably on board.
3. - Consider yourself lucky that you can get a late flight home after spending a nice long weekend in Malta and use the money you saved on the air fares to get a cab :)

Try contacting Ryanair's customer care. I am sure they are eagerly waiting for your call to take more of your money and offer you no help at all....

All the destinations usually get connecting buses. No other airlines operate flights to Scotland. We should be grateful to Ryanair for offering same, but on the other hand airport authorities should provide adequate transport arrangements if they want passengers.

@ All.
There is a connecting shuttle bus to Trapani operated by Terravision
Taxis are no option because they are very costly. The airport is one hour away from the city.
The bus operator is refusing to operate this service because he has early buses from Edinburgh.

I too am a frequent flyer of Ryanair, with well over 100 flights behind me, but I have not yet been to Trapani for this very reason! There is no connecting shuttle bus to my knowledge.
