French athlete Yohann Diniz, 32, urged on by spectators as he crosses the finish line in Reims, yesterday, to become the 50km walk world record holder with a time of 3:35.27. The former record was detained by Thierry Toutain, another Frenchman, with 3:40.57. Toutain’s time had stood since September 1996. To complete his feat, Diniz had to cover 125 laps at the Georges Hebert Stadium.
