Sliema Hotsticks 1
Rabat Depiro 2

This turned out to be a very interesting encounter which could have gone either way.

Both sides started cautiously. After a short spell of Rabat pressure, Shawn Falzon hit a beauty from the top of the D after a short corner action.

Hotsticks rallied and equalised on 28 minutes through Simon Baldacchino from another short corner action. Sliema finished the half on the attack but the score remained unchanged.

Early in the second half, Rabat forced two short corners and had a shot saved on the line.

Hotsticks hit back and a period of midfield play followed. Then, Rabat, had another two short corners which led to a penalty stroke scored by Charlo Antonelli.

Hotsticks reacted strongly and forced three short corners in the last five minutes but Rabat hung on to win a hard-fought game.

Umpires: David Agius, Anthony Tabone.

White Hart 1
Young Stars 3

White Hart stormed out of the blocks and went ahead in the third minute through a Paul Torpiano effort.

After a period of shared midfield play, Young Stars drew level following a good move down the left flank which was well converted by Marvin Vella.

The rest of the half was rather uneventful but the game came alive in the second half when, in the 40th minute, Joseph Dalli scored after a melee in front of goal.

Both sides forced a series of short corners. In the 62nd minute, Young Stars scored their third goal through Charles Micallef after yet another long drawn-out action in front of goal.

There was still some time left for Luke Busuttil Leaver to miss a penalty for White Hart and for them to hit the post two minutes later. Despite their late endeavours, White Hart failed to cancel out Young Stars’ two-goal advantage.

Umpires: Ray Micallef, John Williams.
