A permit for the construction of a park and ride in Floriana, which forms part of the public transport reform, was approved by the Malta Environment and Planning Authority this morning.
The park and ride, at Hornworks Ditch, will have 471 parking spaces, including 11 for the disabled.
The permit covers the demolition of a building to be used as stores, landscaping works, a bus stop and the cleaning of the ditch, which is full of junk and debris.
The project was recommended for approval because it amalgamates the use of private cars with that of public transport.
