NCW concerned at domestic violence judgement
The National Council of Women has expressed concern at the court ruling regarding the recent case of domestic violence which had been video-taped and submitted to YouTube.
It said that the case was a public act of violence, even if not interpreted as domestic violence.
The council insisted that the law had to be seen to be delivering justice.
“Sending the wrong message to society can reinforce this despicable behaviour.”
The law, it said, needed to be clarified and amended and this had to be treated as an immediate priority. More should also be done on practical early preventive measures.

Grazzi tal-kumment tieghek. Kif litteralment tqazzizt b'din l-ghaqda li tiprova tivvenera lil mara qisha xi holqien izjed specjali minn holqien iehor. Ma niflahhomx izjed!
Jien ma naqbel xejn ma dak li sehh u li l-anqas rajtu ghax ma niflahx nara persuna tigi mahqura. Nghid illi kieku kont prezenti anki hajti kont inpoggi fil-periklu biex dik il-mara ma tghaddix minn dak li intqaghal li ghaddiet minnu. Imma jista' xi hadd jghidli b'liema mezzi ser jigi protett ragel meta mara tabbuza minnu psikologikament, kif jigri f'hafna kazijiet meta l-abbuz ikun gej mill-mara? Possibli hadd ma jinduna li ghaqdiet bhal NCW qedin hemm biex jipromwovu n-narcizmu f'sezzjoni sinifikanti tas-socjeta? Din hi simili bhal ma qed jigri illum fl-iskejjel. It-tfal jigu mghallma d-drittijiet izda ma 'ssirx l-istess emfazi fuq id-dmirijiet. Ghaliex jithallew dawn l-affarijiet, x'gid qed johrog minnhom?
Nemmen ukoll li meta ikollok sezzjoni socjali qed tigi meqjusa bhala venerabli l-abbuz min nies ta' din is-sezzjoni ser ikun ferm izjed. Nemmen li l-vjolenza domestika zdiedet mhux ghax zdiedu l-irgiel li lanqas jisthoqilhom jissejhu nies imma ghax ftit huma dawk in-nisa li ma hallewx lil min jinqeda bihom u juru r-rispett misthoqq. U li tigi 'trattat ta' oggett qatt m'hu sabieh jew accettabli.

Are the AG or the police going to appeal against this sentence?

No violence is justified, physical or emotional. The violence in the video was horrible. My point is not about this particular incident. I just want to ask whether the NCW issued any statement when women were found guilty of inventing rape or sexual abuses by men. Lately we had 2 cases. If we want to be credible we have to condemn everything which is wrong. I don't beleive in women's rights, men's rights. I beleive in human rights.
