GWU persists with industrial action at Enemalta
The General Workers' Union is persisting with its industrial actions at Enemalta in spite of a request for such actions to stop until a decision on the issue is taken by the Industrial Tribunal.
In a statement, Enemalta apologised for being unable to provide a complete and efficient service because of the actions.
It said that during the first hearing of the tribunal, the union was requested to stop its actions but it failed to do so.

My dear Mr Galea . First of all I wasn’t sacked as you said but I resigned! ..I resigned because I didn’t want to have anything to do anymore with that organization that its first thought is to preserve its power, than help those that help it, than finally if there is time to try to think about the workers!
Here you said that I had a merge with the management.. you make me laugh!
You know who has a marge with the management? Those that went and asked for a post, for scales and allowances! Surly NOT ME !.. I NEVER ASKED FOR ANYTHING OR PRETENDED ANYTHING … My sole interest always was to safe guard the interest of all the corporation employees..
And yet again you misinterpreted what I said!.. Well now I got used to that !
I know very well what I signed!! More than you think, it seems that you don’t know what is written and you are the person responsible to make the new one! If you want I can enlighten you just go to pg 12 article 2.5 !

Dear Mr. Schembri. As an ex President of the Chemical and Energy Sector Section of the GWU, you should know that Article 2 of the Collective Agreement YOU signed on the 19th May 2008 on behalf of us employees, stipulates clearly how a vacancy within the Corporation should be filled. We are not here to accept “offers” but to abide to the rules as agreed. By accepting the “offer” as Chief Fire Officers or Generation Officers, the employees concerned would be discriminating against other employees (most of whom are your colleagues in the Generation Plant) that have worked so hard maybe with the intention that someday they could be promoted themselves to these posts. Your remark here makes one wonder how right the employees were when they sacked you from your post in the Union for your merger with management. May I ask, did you know what you were signing for when you endorsed the Collective Agreement as I cannot find any Article saying “Management may offer employees new grades…….”

I deeply simpatize with those workers that REALLY suffer an injustice and they should be defended to the full.... BUT!!!
If some workers keep on persisting that they should be accommodated for every thing they dream the night before .. that is not acceptable and it in not fair for there fellow workers!!
It is better if the management and this organization (GWU) stop this pantomime and start thinking about the big picture of the future of ALL workers not only for those few that after all keep on refusing everything they are offered !!

Can Enemalta publish the decision of the tribunal if there is one or is someone trying to mislead the public.
Is Enemalta still persisting in its actions and thus going against the collective agreement.
Did the management of Enemalta offer complete and efficient service before the industrial actions?

ENEWMALTA IS RESPONSABLE TO PROVIDE THE SERVICE. THE GWU IS RESPONSABLE TO SEE THAT THE AGGREMENT SIGNED BY THE TWO PARTIES WILL BE HOUNERD IN FAVOUR OF ALL THE ENEMALTA WORKERS. ENEMALTA MANAGMENT DISHOUNERD THE COLLECTIVE AGGREMENT SEVERAL TIMES. ENEMALTA MANAGMENT IS THE ARCHITECT OF THIS DISPIUT, IF THE CHAIRMAN REALY CARES ABOUT HIS CLIENTS HE HAS TO SEE THAT AT ALL TIMES THE INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS WITH THE GWU WHICH HAS THE MAGGIORITY OF ALL THE WORKERS WILL BE POSITIVE. IF THE MANAGMENT ARROGANCE IS GOING TO INCREASE THE GWU HAS RIGHT TO CONTINUE TO SAFEGAURD THE WORKERS' RIGHTS. THATS WHY THE WORKERS ARE MEMBERS OF A UNION. THE WORKERS ARE BEING ASKED TO MAKE SACRIFICES AND FOR THE MANAGMENT THERE ARE PERFORMANCE BONUSES, CREDIT CARDS AND MUCH MUCH MORE. ITS A SHAME.

Enemalta should be ashamed of its shoddy service. Dump these lazy workers for not giving their day's worth while receiving full pay. Do what Mintoff used to do: either strike or else you wont get paid in all circumstances.
